This
is me, Charlene Calhoun. I have worked here for
over four years now. If you asked me to pick what
is my favorite section to work in I wouldn't be
able to answer. I had planned on finishing school
and becoming a counselor for children in school or
a hospital situation. I was asked by my sister
(who worked here at the time) if I would be
interested in doing the website for the shelter. I
started just updating what was already here but
adding my own little touches. Before I knew it I
was working on it full time and had found a couple
other websites that allow shelters to post their
animals for free. It wasn't long until I felt that
I would love to work closer with the animals. I
have worked in each area with all ages of cats and
dogs. I feel this is exactly where I am supposed
to be. This February I started helping Alice with
the "New
Leash on Life"
program. I will be helping to train inmates on
training the dogs and then placing them in forever
homes.
August, 2008
This
was my first month as director and I have to ask
myself "did I know what I was getting into?".
Alice made it all seem so easy. I have so much
support from our board members and family and I
wont let them down. I do promise to make it my
mission to continue in the work that Alice began.
I will do my part to help our county and shelter
grow in animal education and humane treatment of
all animals equally. I hope to serve you well.
