She came to the shelter when one of the older family members she lived with became very ill and could no longer care for her. It was a sad goodbye, but now this little girl is hoping for a new beginning with a loving family. She has lived in a calm home with older people and has also shared her space with another cat, so she’s already used to companionship and a relaxed environment. With her gentle personality and young age, she has a wonderful foundation to fit into many different homes. Like any kitten, she’s full of curiosity and ready to grow, play, and cuddle with the people lucky enough to adopt her. Her sleek black coat makes her look like a tiny shadow following you around — and once she bonds with you, she just might! Meet Maple – Sweet, Loyal, and Ready for a Fresh Start Maple is a very sweet Australian Shepherd mix who recently came to the shelter when her family went through a divorce. She’s now hoping to find a new home where she can feel safe, loved, and part of the family again. Maple is described as loving and protective, the kind of dog who bonds closely with her people and wants to be by your side. She is crate trained and sleeps in her crate at night, and she will bark or whine when she needs to go outside, which helps her communicate when it’s potty time. Like many smart herding breeds, Maple does have one habit her new family will need to help her work on — she has been known to chase or follow the family’s car when it leaves. With patience, supervision, and some training, this is something that can be improved as she settles into a stable routine. Maple will ride in the car, but she feels most comfortable when she’s crated during the ride. Once she knows she’s secure, she does much better traveling. What Maple really wants is a family to love and protect, a place where she can feel safe, and people who will give her the patience and care she deserves as she adjusts to her new life.
