Avery is wondering... "Wasn't I supposed to be forever?" At just 2 years old, this beautiful Redbone Coonhound is back at the shelter through no fault of her own. She was adopted as a puppy, but her family couldn't keep her safely contained with an underground fence. Avery is everything you'd want in a best friend—friendly, affectionate, playful, and devoted to her people. Her favorite toy is a stuffed squirrel, she's always happy to earn a tasty treat, and nothing beats curling up on the couch beside her favorite human. In fact, that's where she feels the safest. She's house-trained, walks nicely on a harness, and already knows sit, down, and shake. Avery has lived with both dogs and cats and enjoys going for walks and playing with children. She may bark at kids when she first meets them, but once she realizes they're friends, she's ready to join in the fun.
